One Tall Tower – the Burj Khalifa

The Burj Khalifa is the worlds tallest tower and while it can be seen for kilometers its entrance isn’t that clear… Getting off at the bus stop named “Burj Khalifa” was the most likely point of call for me, yet it only took me to the promenade and it’s surroundings. The entrance for tourists to get up the building is through the Dubai Mall (if you read the post above, an entrance through a mall should have been the obvious conclusion). So for 100 dirrums you can ride the lift to only the 124th floor (not the very top) to give you a 180 degree view of the city. Inside the lift, which I found amusing was that there was 5 buttons: you standard open/close and emergency stop, but then it was G (ground) and 124.

From the top, the view wasn’t overly spectacular. A lot of incomplete construction sites are scattered around the city and just beyond the business district you can see water.

I guess this and the malls were the novelty touristy things I did in my short 3 night stop over in Dubai. Had time permitted, it would have been cool to do a desert safari. Onto London next.
